Whilst not an answer to your question, some basic info with serial number dates.
I only have limited experience with the major (drove the stupid thing this morning before it got too hot)

The engine is the Perkins 3/152 with the Perkins aeroflow swirl chamber head (same as the P series) .........the most common problem with these motors is cracked head ,next most common is severe wear on rear main bearing and crank journal................all the small crank Perks suffer from wear on the rear main.

Thanks for the tips, everyone.
With the exhaust, we were more thinking of nests.
It certainly could be heavily carboned up. We were going to try pulling an injector for a look, but it was too hot.
I'll have to do some research into the pump.
This machine is second in line currently. His petrol grey Fergie has just done the timing chain (I think) and he has pressed the early diesel grey Fergie into service, but it breathes quite heavily. The Ford would seem to be the most useful tractor, once it's sorted out.
I may be acquiring the petrol Fergie for a project.
Thanks, Jarrod.

The only diesel Ive ever seen blocked ports from carbon was a Cat 3208 in a Louisville..........and one exhaust would be really blocked down to about a 1" dia hole...........never seen another motor like that ..........the sandblasters had a Johhn Deere 4/239 with a completely buggered cam and lifters from a broken oil pressure releif spring .........someone had done a quick fix by stretching what was left of the spring .

Hi Jarrod,
If you go to bundybearsshed.com.au website, then go to "technical library", then "service manuals", then "Perkins", you can download (for free) a copy of the CAV injection pump manual.
Lance also has several excellent videos about re-sealing/fixing/timing these pumps, on his Bundy Bears Shed youtube channel. Might be worth a look.
Brett.

The early Fergy and Ford diesels could become coked up on small properties with lack of hard work at full engine power, rarely warming up.
Carting hay, feeding out, running out the milk cans, mowing, raking and other light jobs.
Owners in the know would put them to hard work for a few hours at full load. Better than paying dealer service to come to the farm, head off and decoke valves, combustion chambers and ports.
Perhaps a carry over from draught horse days, keep them fit for work even if you have to loan to neighbours.

I've seen Lister CS diesels almost completely plugged.
