Hey, how are we all? Fighting fit I hope… A build like the below pictured has always been in the back of my mind, perhaps before they even started popping up here and there more so these days.
My question is to you lot, the brains trust, what platform (make, model, year) would you build one on if you were to give it a go and why? Cab over or Bonneted. Looking for some brainstorming material.
Thanks all,
Urchy87

It's good to have a project to either build or just dream about
Here's a few I have spotted on social media
All seem to have varying degrees of success
This was a poster in a magazine, no one seems to know anything about it 40 years or more later
This is in Australia, so may well be just stored away awaiting the right person to make a offer
I think most use either a F truck or Holden 1 tonner as a base

Think many done on the Ford F chassis.
Not keen on the 1 tonners because of the step up behind the cab for the tray.
Maybe the small Jap trucks?

Hey Brocky45. Thanks for providing some feedback and pictures . Curious to know what engineering is involved. I’d have thought it would be treated as a cab chassis and mounting a tray on one would be acceptable without engineering.
Cheers for the other pictures and feed back too lads. I have a 1965 F250 which I’ve played around with a bit. Thought it was going to scratch the itch but didn’t quite do it. Haha.
Cheers, Urchy

Ive seen old F250 and 350s with Louisville cabs and bonnets ,registered OK too ......that was 40 years ago ..........there are a million stupid rules now ...........Bruce Dickson had a Inter AB 160 4x4 cut down with a panel van body and 12.00 x 20 tyres that he got registered OK .......again that was a while ago ...maybe mid 70s .

Urchy, Somewhere on the Big Mack Trucks website is a topic, about 5 years old, of a man in New England USA who put a B model Mack cab and front clip on a 3/4 ton Chevy 4X4 chassis. They topic is at least 20 pages long with many pictures. I forget his user name now and I am not that computer savvy, But maybe Mrs Mack Paul remembers him??
